Economic downturn
Well, it’s half-way through January 2009 already and although the news is full of financial doom and gloom, here at BestPump, we’re enjoying some very diverse enquiries.
We’re currently quoting on pumps for concrete / clay, barrel emptying pumps for fruit juice, metal detectors for carbonated drink production in Europe and troubleshooting leaking seal problems in the USA to name but a few.
One trend we have picked up on however is the increased number of customers asking about ways of reducing their replacement pump costs. Where previously a brand new pump was preferred, many manufacturers are opting for used equipment.
The economic downturn has sparked a trend on second user pumps and equipment. We’re getting more and more requests for used pumps and there’s increased demand for pump spares. As budgets shrink, plant managers and pump engineers are looking for ways to maximise their budgets.
Sometimes replacing worn out pumps with refurbished or second hand equivalents can save up to 50% when compared to a brand new pump. As mentioned in an earlier blog entry this month, regular replacing of pump seals and maintaining pump service intervals can drastically extend the lifetime of your pumps.
Another option that you may not realise is that although your pump may be worn, leaking and looking set for the scrap yard, we can take that rusty old pump and remanufacture it. The process results in a practically new pump with warranty and is great value compared to the cost of buying a replacement.
